About me

Changing Health & Fitness is not about complexity; it's about achieving consistency.

Get to know Andrew...

Like many people who grew up in the 90’s, my introduction to health & fitness was reading my dad’s body fitness magazines. I figured the advice must be worth something if they made it into a magazine and were in decent shape. However, I soon realized my mistake. Much of what I read held little relevance for beginners as it was built on the fallacy that what was effective for the experienced works well for newbies. This mismatch led me to overcomplicate my fitness journey, resulting in injuries and confusion rather than clarity and progress.

In search of answers, I spent both time and money in higher education, hoping a professor could enlighten me. This too proved to be a misstep. While I gained some knowledge, the fundamentals of health and fitness, which I unknowingly sought, remained elusive. Why are fundamentals so crucial? Universal principles like the sustainability and effectiveness of health & fitness regimens are applicable to everyone. It doesn’t have to be complicated. Simplifying the process takes away unnecessary distractions and empowers you to continue exercising long after our time together has ended.

So, how can you trust me or anyone else for that matter with your time? I know I find it hard sometimes to find a reputable source of information. One reputable person can say something completely counter intuitive to another – we really are living in the age of misinformation. What's the answer? Well, I firmly believe the answer to contrasting information is in achieving simplicity – you can’t get it wrong. We all know doing a bit of exercise and eating less unprocessed foods is good, so let’s start there. Are you pain with a specific movement? Then do a similar movement that is tolerable and then add load once it gets easy. It’s usually that simple.

Common Myths...

Every now and again you get some poor soul told by a care provider that they have to quit their job, get surgery or never do a certain movement again. Imagine walking out of an appointment like that—suddenly, every move you make is cautious, maybe you're even avoiding certain actions altogether, which isn't great for keeping those muscles and joints in tip-top shape. But is there any other way? Yes, there is another way! It's about seeing the bigger picture, getting pragmatic advice on exercise and dispelling that nonsense in your head that's stopping you from living! I have listed a few common myths that can hinder people moving forward.

Exercise couldn't help me with my pain because I get pain when I move!

While that may seem logical, the effects of exercise extend beyond local tissue to a systemic level.

It doesn't matter anyway, I have pain because of poor posture, alignment or a structural change.

It's possible but it becomes less likely after a few months and more likely your pain is a combination of many factors.

Well, I dont have gym to go to or enough time to do rehab so theres no point.

You can do a home exercise program. It could be as little as 10-20 minutes a day.

Coaching Philosophy

After seven years in the health & fitness industry, my conviction in the transformative power of simplicity has only deepened. True change, I've discovered, sprouts from the fundamentals. Complexity, though occasionally necessary, often overshadows the essence of enduring success—the clear, uncomplicated strategies that lay the groundwork for consistent progress. As the adage goes, simplicity is consistency. Yet, achieving lasting results transcends just the methodology; it's profoundly influenced by the quality of our working relationship. I am a staunch advocate for a positive and dynamic partnership, one where:
Shared-decision: Choices are respected and made together
Empowerment: Tools and education for autonomous decisions
Transparency: Thoughts are shared openly and backed by a justifiable reason.
Honesty: Goals and expectations are realistic.
By adhering to these tenets, we chart a path towards your health and fitness goals that's not just effective but sustainable. This journey celebrates every milestone, acknowledging both triumphs and hurdles as integral parts of the process. If you're drawn to this holistic, straightforward approach towards achieving wellness, I'm ready and excited to embark on this journey with you. I look forward to connecting with you soon, eager to transform our shared vision into your personal reality

What am I up too?

Every year healthcare seems to face another crisis. Across the board, waiting times are too long, patient resources are at an all-time low and clinicians are overworked tackling an increasing backlog of patients. Yet, no problem is ever solved, they just seem to shift the problem somewhere else. I believe part of the answer will involve integrating advanced technologies that assist clinicians in making informed decisions. Yes, I am talking about artificial intelligence... partly. Unfortunately, I don’t possess the skills to develop next gen AI but what I am developing is an algorithm a patient can complete before an appointment that alerts the clinician of the conditions that fit the patient’s description and the criteria required for onward referral. The algorithm is intended to be used a tool to guide decision making and prompt the clinician to ask the right questions.
